Kesha Says Part. 11

Dear Corporate…,

“Some Things Will Never Change”

Being a woman in the corporate world reminds me at times of how “SOME” view affirmative action. We’re just filling up a quota. It’s like that saying goes, “I’m not a racist! I have one ethnic friend or I’m not sexist! I have a girl that runs my administrative stuff. News flash, if you can quantify it, you ARE IT.

Let’s leave the intelligence, strategizing, analyzing and problem solving to the boys. You know, just sit around and look pretty, why don’t ya?diversify the room a bit. The objective is to sell the illusion that we’re ALL inclusive.

Some things will NEVER change. I’m proud to be called woman, I’m proud of our advancements, but sad for the young women and girls of the future, with even an ounce of ambition to climb the corporate ladder. You’ve got your work cut out for you.

I now have a better understanding why some sleep their way to the top, un-hook that extra button or wear those skirts a bit shorter or tighter. They get up there faster than the rest of us.

Be encouraged, Be determined, refuse to bend your laurels, Be stern, Be fearless, but whatever you do:

DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED

It’s what they want.
