Daughterless Fathers
“Daughterless Fathers”
I’m here, but where are you? During all of my needy times… Where were you? Your money is needed, but your love will do… All I’m asking is, Where are you?
I can handle my own responsibilities, but at least be there to say babygirl good work, walk me down the isle and watch me say I do… Rather, I’m insecure with low self esteem, because I’m not given the proper attention that I deserve from you…
I deserve to have a father, a male figure that’s really there only for my protection… I’ve tried, but I’ve mostly cried, because all I receive is neglection… You are my reason for breathing, but to you I’m just your semen…
The times you should be staying, be the times that you’re leaving… So I ask myself is it me… Is it you… My loneliness leads me to answer myself, on top of the fact that I’m already confused… I only feel used, although I’m here collecting dust on your shelf, my heart is still bruised, so many questions, I need to get things off of my chest, my personal lies feels true…
When men asks, I easily say yes, now I’m placed in the blame for my shame, you’re making it hard for me to be my best, when I should feel blessed, instead you’ve cursed me to not trust, and sleep without rest, I’m unworthy to be wed, I’ve repeated the cycle myself, there’s no king in my nest… Now all me and my daughter wants to hear from our fathers is you’re beautiful, I love you & I’m here for you when you need me. Will we…???
