Déjà Vu
“Déjà Vu…”
I have been here before,
The when and how are still a mystery.
Behind your brass doors permeates scents of lavender, frankincense and myrrh, of which I strangely seem acquainted with.
There however lies an allure to a more tumultuous story,
Of which the sweetest scents cannot repress….
I have been here before,
Fluctuation of emotions fueled by age old strife.
Toxic daggers hurdled in adjacent directions, piercing without hesitance.
Only to be soothed by silence,
A brief moment of freedom to breathe above the surface of my tears, that split second opportunity to grasp for air.
Peace treaty drafted, pleasantries exchanged.
In the back of my thoughts, I ponder, what slip of the tongue will trigger the next episode….
I have been here before,
Where weakness gives birth to insecurities and instability rattles the core.
We avoid compromising like a plague,
Chalking it up to a thing of the past,
A past we’ve yet to have,
Which leads to no present nor future, just feelings of Déjà Vu….
